MARYSVILLE, Mich. (AP) -- Some students at Marysville Middle School had their heads shaved to raise money for cancer research.
In all, 34 people went bald for a good cause on Friday.
More than $6,600 was raised for the St. Baldrick's Foundation between the head-shaving and the school's penny war competition.
In addition to the students, teacher and student council adviser Bill Grant also had his head shaved.
He said that the school has "great kids" who really bought into the unique fundraiser.
Stylists from New Millennium Salon in Marysville did the honors of shaving the students' heads as the rest of the school looked on. Bald caps also sold for $5 for those who wanted to retain their locks but still support the cause.
