Meridian Township Approves Whole Foods Zoning

The Meridian Township board cleared the way for Whole Foods to open its first store in Mid-Michigan, The board voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve the company's zoning request. The store will be built along the north side of Grand River Avenue where "Velocipede Peddler used to be and where the Mobile Home Manor park stands right now. The board gave Whole Foods a variance allowing it to have a 48 square foot sign, 10 feet larger than normal. The 35,000 square foot store is expected to employ around 200 people when it opens in 2015.
