MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP - Power is not expected to be back on in parts of Meridian Township until possible 8 o'clock Friday night. Consumers Energy says at about 1:30PM a power line failed at a substation, knocking out the electricity to about 1,200 customers, many of them businesses. Police officers are directing traffic at key intersections. Because this conductor is buried, it will be difficult to work on. Consumers Energy engineers are now looking to transfer loads from other circuits get customers' power back.
