BRIGHTON, Mich. (AP) -- Work is set to begin soon on a new memorial to veterans in Brighton.
The Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell reports that enough donations have been raised and pledged to build the memorial. It is expected to cost $125,000 to $150,000.
Bryan Bradford is chairman of the Brighton Veterans Memorial committee and a disabled Army veteran. He says the success of the fundraising drive for the memorial shows how much residents care about veterans.
Work is scheduled to begin during the second week of September, with completion by Veterans Day on Nov. 11. A dedication is scheduled for Nov. 9. No taxpayer money will be spent on it.
