People in Meridian Township gathered to remember the men and women who have lost their lives for our freedom.
Bagpipes opened the ceremony with a presentation of colors by the Okemos Boy Scout Troop 109. Township Clerk Brett Dreyfus led an introduction, and various guest speakers shared their thoughts on the meaning of this special day.
"We take a moment during spring's rebirth to remember the fallen and those who have made it possible," said Command Sgt. David Dunckel. " We couldn't gather here today like this as free Americans if it wasn't for the sacrifices of our brothers and sisters in arms."
The Township Fired Department Chaplain closed the ceremony with a benediction for our service men and women.
