Supporters of a proposal to decriminalize marijuana have gathered enough valid signatures to put the issue on Lansing's November ballot, city councilwoman Kathie Dunbar confirmed to wilx.com Monday night.
The Coalition for a Safer Lansing backed the petition drive. It released a statement saying City Clerk Chris Swope would make a formal announcement Tuesday, although that has not been confirmed.
The proposal would decriminalize the possession, use and transfer of up to one ounce of marijuana by people 21 or older on private property. No other city ordinances would change.
