LANSING -- The 21-year-old man shot and killed during an attempted robbery Friday night has been named by police.

East Lansing's Marcus Alan-Scott Schrauben died from a gunshot wound suffered at the KFC restaurant in 1600 block of East Michigan Avenue in Lansing.

It happened shortly before 6 p.m.

"When officers arrived on scene they located one victim, a male victim, lying in the back parking lot where he was a victim of a gunshot wound," Capt. Mike Yankowski said.

Police say Schrauben was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday.

While police say it's early in the investigation, all signs currently point to the employee being shot during a robbery attempt.

"At this point in time what we understand is there was some sort of robbery attempt inside the Kentucky Fried Chicken," Capt. Yankowski said. "There were shots fired inside."

Police say that at least one, but possibly more shots were fired. There is only one victim in the incident.

Police added that there were guest inside the KFC during the incident as well as other employees. The suspect, according to police, is considered armed and dangerous.

"Our understanding is that he is a black male, last seen wearing a dark hoodie, possibly carrying some kind of bag with him," Capt. Yankowski said.

Police also indicated they believe the suspect is in his mid-20's and between 6' to 6'2 and fled the scene in a burgundy-colored four-door vehicle with a black rear bumper.

"Possibly like a (Chevrolet) Corsica-type vehicle," Yankowski said.

Police urge anyone with information to contact them.
