DELHI TWP - Sheriff's deputies removed dozens of marijuana plants this morning from a home where a shooting took place overnight. A 21-year old man was shot inside a home in the 4200 block of West Holt Road in Delhi Township around midnight. Ingham County Sheriff's department says they removed 57 marijuana plants and growing equipment from the home.
Lt. Eric Trojanowicz says that a woman in the home shot the man while he was fighting with her husband. He says the couple claims they did not know the man who entered the home, and they told investigators that the man came in brandishing a gun. A fight ensued and the woman grabbed a handgun. The couple tells police that the two men continued to brawl on the floor of the living room, and the woman shot the 21-year-old man at close range. Lt. Trojanowicz says the man had multiple wounds resulting from a handgun capable of shooting buckshot. The man was rushed to Sparrow Hospital where he has undergone two surgeries.
Four young children were inside the home at the time of the shooting.
The Ingham County Sheriff, Gene Wrigglesworth, is having a 2 o'clock press conference about the shooting incident. News 10 will be there and have more tonight in the 6 o'clock news.
