One man is in custody for allegedly trying to hurt his ex-wife in Summit Township this morning.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says it received a call about an armed home invasion on the 3800 block of West Chester Boulevard shortly before 4 a.m.
When deputies arrived, the female homeowner and her children escaped.
Deputies and a special response team tried to make contact with the suspect, who stayed inside the house.
After about four hours without getting the man to respond, team members entered the home and arrested the man after a struggle.
The man, 42, allegedly forced his way into the home to hurt his former wife. He may have had a gun.
He was taken to Allegiance Hospital for medical treatment, and is now in the Jackson County jail.
The sheriff's office is seeking a number of assault, home invasion and firearm charges against him.
