Man Gets Life in Prison For Killing Girlfriend's Son

The man convicted in the death of his girlfriend's son is going to prison for the rest of his life.

Marcus Hill received that sentence in an Ingham County courtroom Wednesday morning.

Despite his conviction, he told the judge he is innocent and plans to appeal his case.

Investigators and pathologists testified Brandon Kemp, the 2-year-old son of Mercedes Kemp, was beaten so badly his liver was split into three pieces. The child's injuries also include bruised lungs and internal bleeding before he died in April 2012.

Mercedes Kemp was found guilty in April of second-degree murder and sentenced to 25-30 years in prison.

Kemp's mother and grandmother to Brandon, LaDonna Morrell, spoke during Hill's, saying he was getting less than he deserved. "The prisons in Michigan are too good for you," said Morrell. "You deserve to die, you are God forsaken."

Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Joyce Draganchuk also made her opinion clear. "You are the monster and Mercedes Kemp gave you access to her child."

Hill has no shot at parole.
