OAKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say a man has drowned after the row boat he was fishing in with his wife capsized on a western Michigan lake.
Sheriff's officials say the man died Saturday morning on the Chain Lakes in Kent County's Oakfield Township, northeast of Grand Rapids. Both the 53-year-old Grand Rapids man and woman fell into the water and tried to get back into the small aluminum boat, but only the woman was able to survive.
A sheriff's news release says the woman grabbed a floatation device, swam to shore and found someone to call for help. The man never surfaced, according to authorities.
