A man in Jackson County's Columbia Township is facing charges after making threats, firing shots and barricading himself in his home early Tuesday.
Police were called to the 12000 block of Monroe Pike shortly after midnight when the man confronted his wife and adult daughter as they were trying to move out. Police say he had a gun, and after making threats to harm them and himself, fired off several rounds, both inside and outside the home.
The woman and her daughter were able to escape as they called 911. Officers made contact with the man over the phone, but refused to come out of the house. The man also had phone contact with a second daughter and another officer, who was eventually able to talk him into coming out shortly after 3am.
Officers removed several weapons from the home after the man was taken into custody peacefully and taken to Allegiance Hospital for evaluation. A report will be sent to the prosecutor's office for possible charges.
