A man is currently in the Jackson County Jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in Rives Township Friday night.
The Jackson County Sheriff's Office says the 61-year-old man threw a woman to the ground and groped her shortly after 10 p.m.
The victim was able to fight off the man and called 911.
She received minor injuries and declined medical attention.
The suspect was later found at his home and arrested.
The sheriff's office says this is not a random assault; the man knew the woman, was drunk and "overstepped his bounds."
He is in jail on a charge of criminal sexual assault, and is expected to be arraigned on Monday.
