DETROIT (AP) -- A 47-year-old man has been arraigned in the hit-and-run death of an 8-year-old boy whose bike was dragged by an SUV in Detroit.
A 36th District Court judge on Friday set Alfonso Butler's bond at $150,000 and scheduled an Oct. 9 preliminary examination.
Butler of Detroit is charged with leaving the scene of an injury accident causing death.
Darrin Wilhite of Detroit was struck Tuesday evening on the city's west side by a vehicle that kept going with him and the bike pinned underneath. He was dislodged, but the driver drove off with part of the bike stuck to the vehicle's front end.
Butler turned himself in to authorities Wednesday.
