It was another sell-out at the Breslin Center in East Lansing. Nearly 15,000 seats were filled where the Spartans defeated the Wolverines 64-54. The aggressive rivalry didn't stop at the sidelines, both teams were cheered on by a classic green and blue crowd.
These are the games that challenge friendships and divide households. One family struggling with a split home is the Millers. "My dad and I are cheering for Michigan, my wife and sister are cheering for state, and my mom and daughter are divided," explained Scott Miller.
No one in the family attended either university, but like many Michiganders, everyone picks sides on game day. They at least try to keep it civil. "We cheer for who we want to when they're playing each other and when they're playing other teams we cheer for them both," explained Miller.
The rivalry has thrived for over a century, kept in balance with the proximity of the two campuses; they're only 60 miles apart.
