MSU Union Reopens After First Floor Renovations

The MSU Union’s newly renovated first floor is open for business, offering a wide variety of venues and services for students and campus visitors.

“The new first floor of the MSU Union serves as an important campus resource, providing people with places to shop, eat, study or simply relax,” said Angela Brown, MSU Auxiliary Resources director. “The Union has played many roles since it first opened, and this renovation will allow it to continue to grow and serve the MSU community.”

Among the new additions to the Union are a Sparty’s Express and a Welcome Center for students and campus visitors. Old Union favorites like Biggby’s coffee shop, the MSU Dairy Store and MSU Federal Credit Union are also open, and the Union Food Court and Spartan Spirit Shop have unveiled renovated layouts.

“The Union plays host to many organizations, including the Student Alumni Foundation, the Multicultural Center and the Women’s Resource Center,” said Vennie Gore, assistant vice president of MSU Residential and Hospitality Services. “These renovations allow for a better connection between those groups and the campus.”

MSU will celebrate the completed renovations with a Grand Re-Opening event from 4-7 p.m. on January 15, 2013 with remarks from MSU President Lou Anna K. Simon and tours of the newly renovated areas.
