MSU Researcher Leads to Discovery of a Body in Wooded Area

Human remains were discovered Friday in a wooded area adjacent to US 127, bounded by Cavanaugh and Dunkel Roads.

The area is MSU property. A MSU student doing research on the property discovered personal items and contacted MSU police.

University police were joined by Lansing Police and Michigan State Police to search the area.

A MSP K9 team discovered the remains.

A release from the Lansing Police Department says the personal items located at the scene appear to belong to a missing person, however, the department won't the identity of the person.

Lansing police won't speculate on the cause of death, but they doubt foul play was involved.
