Tuition for Michigan State University students is going up, again.
At its Friday meeting, the university's Board of Trustees approved a 2.6% increase for in-state freshmen and sophomores and a 2.9% increase for in-state juniors and seniors.
An MSU statement says the increases for the 2014-15 academic year match the increases for the current year, but emphasizes it is the lowest tuition increase since 2005.
The hikes come after state funding to MSU was increased by 5.9%. But MSU says with inflation adjustment, that is still about half of the funding per student a decade ago
