MDOT is getting ready to install a cable median barrier on I-96 in Eaton Co. this week.

An accident on U.S. 23 in Monroe Co. Tuesday morning could have been a lot worse.

The Michigan Dept. of Transportation tweeted a picture Tuesday showing how the cable barrier in the median prevented a semi from going across the highway into oncoming traffic when the driver lost control.

The truck driver is said to be alright. No one else was hurt.

MDOT is getting ready to install a cable median barrier on I-96 in Eaton Co. this week. It will go from Canal Rd. to the county line near Grand Ledge.

The project shouldn't have much of an impact on drivers because only the shoulders will be closed during construction.

The highway will be back to normal in August.
