Long-Time Season Ticket Holders Remember MSU-ND Rivalry

It was a little more than an hour before game time and the area immediately surrounding Spartan Stadium was swollen with fans looking to get into their seats.

While many were experiencing their first Notre Dame game ever, Sam and Susie Mallory were trying to figure out if they have had season tickets for 53 or 54 years.

"I've seen so many games, they kind of blend in now," said Sam Mallory.

Some games, however, do stick out in their memories, like the famous 'Game of the Century', a 1966 game between Michigan State and Notre Dame that ended in a 10-10 tie.

"There was an incredible amount of excitement to it," said Mallory. "That was the only game where I never saw tickets you could buy."

Another big one is the 1958 Michigan-Michigan State game that ended in a 12-12 tie, when Susie Mallory began having labor pains with their first child.

"I still love the excitement of all the people walking around," said Sam Mallory. "I love the excitement of coming to the games."

The Mallory's have been married 55 years and they do not show any sign of slowing down.
