After 27 years with the Eaton County Prosecutor's Office, Jeffery Sauter is moving to the other side of the bench. He has held the Prosecutor position since 1991.

Governor Rick Snyder appointed him 56th Circuit Court judge. He will be filling Judge Calvin Osterhaven's seat, who has retired.

In addition to his role as prosecutor attorney, Sauter is active in several organizations, including the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention Board.

Sauter will serve the remainder of Osterhaven's term through January 2015.

He will need to seek election for a full six-year term in November 2014.
