Locals Thank Rep. Rogers For Service

From Bobby Schostak, Michigan Republican Party Chairman:

"Chairman Rogers has been a leader for our party, our state and our country. Mike has the heart of a servant, and I'm certain we will continue working together to keep moving Michigan, and our country, forward. I want to thank the Congressman for his many years of service, and wish him well in this new path.

"I'm certain that with our deep bench of solid, principled, conservative leaders, we will retain Congressman Rogers' seat this fall."

From Gov. Rick Snyder:

“Congressman Mike Rogers is a true public servant, and has dedicated his life to serving his country and the people of mid-Michigan. From serving in the U.S. Army, to fighting crime as a member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, to the state Legislature where he was Senate Majority Floor Leader, to Washington, D.C., where he rose through the ranks to chair the prominent House Intelligence Committee, Rep. Rogers has always put the interests of others first.

“On behalf of all Michiganders, I thank the congressman for his lifetime of service and dedication to our state. Mike Rogers has been successful at every turn, and I wish him nothing but the best as he begins a new career.”

From Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero:

"While I have fundamental political differences with Congressman Rogers, I want to be among the first to thank him for his service to our state and nation. I also want to make it clear that I continue to deeply appreciate the trust and confidence placed in me by the citizens of Lansing as their mayor over the past nine years. At this time I intend to continue serving the people of Lansing and doing everything I can to drive the manufacturing resurgence that is creating new jobs and a renewed prosperity for citizens on Main Street here in Michigan and across America."

From state Rep. Andy Schor (D-Lansing)

With Congressman Mike Rogers opting not to run for re-election, my phone and email has been extra active this morning. Just to put any rumors to bed...I am NOT planning to run for Congress. I greatly appreciate the encouragement from friends and supporters, but I love my job in the Michigan House of Representatives on behalf of Lansing and Lansing Township, and have been able to get some great things done (my second bill signing for my second public act is today...more details later). I also have family dynamics to consider and this just isn't the right time for my family. But I greatly appreciate all the wonderful thoughts and comments, and am looking forward to supporting a great Democrat to take back this very winnable seat!

From Rep. Greg Walden (R-Michigan):

“Mike Rogers is without equal in the halls of Congress. First as an FBI agent and later as chairman of the House Committee on Intelligence, Mike has spent his entire life ensuring our country has been kept safe from threats both foreign and domestic. He never once let partisan politics stand in the way of doing what’s right for our nation and its safety. I can’t think of anyone who enjoys more respect from both Republicans and Democrats alike.

“I wish Mike and his family all the best and have every confidence we will elect another Republican leader from this district in November.”

From state Rep. Sam Singh (D-East Lansing):

“I want to thank Congressman Rogers for his many years of service to the people of Michigan. Though we strongly differed on matters of policy, I appreciated his advocacy for projects and funding for Mid-Michigan. I wish him the best of luck as he begins his new radio career.

“The next person to represent this district will have the opportunity play a critical role in developing policy that effects Mid-Michigan. Our region needs a strong voice in Washington to advocate for growing and strengthening the middleclass, investing in quality education, empowering seniors and ensuring equal treatment for our citizens.”
