Juan and Luis Cabrera were on their way home from a day of fishing, Saturday, when they stopped at their aunt and uncle's house in North Lansing.
Their uncle, Oscar Vera, was working on a car in the driveway and the boys were talking with their cousins in the backyard.
"We heard this loud noise and my uncle, he groans," said Juan, 17.
When the boys turned around, they saw that the car had fallen off of the jack and onto Vera.
"He was under the car working on it and I looked back and I saw the whole car on top of his body, it was just crushing him," said Luis, 15.
Vera was pinned under the vehicle, parts of his face, neck and chest all covered. Juan and Luis quickly stepped in.
"The only thing that came into my mind was to try to lift the truck up, off him if we could and so I pulled some off of his neck," said Juan. "Then, my brother hurried up as fast as he could to get the jack and we were screaming at my aunt to call 911."
Using the jack, they were able to remove Vera, just in time for the ambulance to arrive and take him to the hospital.
"They jumped into action to help him out," said Juan Cabrera, the boys' father. "They saved his life and I'm proud of them."
According to the teens' mother, Oscar Vera was treated for a bruised lung and two broken ribs.
