More than 1,600 local General Motors employees are taking an unexpected break this week.

The Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant is shut down until Monday, July 23 due to a parts shortage from one of its suppliers.

We're told the shutdown will not effect the launch of the Cadillac ATS, which is expected to go into production later this month.
