A school's mission to find missing aircraft and crews from World War II needs your help.
The Stockbridge Advanced Underwater Robotics Team is holding a fundraiser next month to raise money for the team's return trip to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
You might remember their trip to the Island of Palau last spring, when they found a marine plane from 1944. The school board approved the return trip this summer--- but it's going to be costly.
The team needs to raise $20,000 to help pay for airfare, lodging, educational tours and a dive boat rental. They've raised nearly $3,500 so far.
The Robotics Team is having a Movie Night/Fundraiser on Friday, November 9 at 7pm to raise money for the trip. It will take place at Heritage Elementary School on Western Avenue in Stockbridge. They'll be showing a documentary about the BentProp Project, whose mission is to find downed aircraft and missing crew members. There will also be a bake sale and a silent auction.
The Robotics team also set up a fundraising website if you'd like to donate. We've put a link to the page at the bottom of this article.
