Local Communities Aiding in Man's Efforts to Help Homeless

A Mid-Michigan man is helping Lansing-area homeless this month, all while reliving his past by going homeless for several weeks.

A few years ago, Mike Karl was homeless for six months, but has since turned his life around. For the past few years, around this time, Karl has returned to the streets to help others in his position through social media.

According to his Facebook page, Tuesday night, he helped three teens get bus tickets home to Mississippi. He has also made arrangements for temporary and permanent housing for some. On Monday night he was able to arrange a home for a woman and her three-year-old daughter for six months rent-free; they had been living out of a van. Volunteers will be working with the woman to help her find a job and permanent housing.

Anthony Sabella is talking with Karl, this afternoon, and will share his story, tonight, at 6. For more information on Karl and his story, click the links below.
