Some elementary school students got a lesson in fire safety Tuesday.
The Delta Twp. fire inspector stopped by Elmwood Elementary to talk to kids. He discussed the importance of having an escape plan, and talked about cooking fires.
Fire Inspector Mike Roberts says 75 percent of fires happen in the kitchen.
"This is part of our youth prevention intervention program," Roberts said of the reason why he was visiting Elmwood Elementary. "We try to prevent fires by talking to kids."
The Delta Twp. Fire Dept. is hoping to expand this lesson to kids of all ages in the future.
