The City of East Lansing is currently working through the last scheduled cycle of bulk leaf collection on the east side of the city.
The city estimates that about 80 to 90 percent of the leaves have fallen as of the past weekend; however, due to the light snow event that occurred last weekend, not all residents were able to rake them to the curb. As a result, the city will be performing one additional bulk leaf collection cycle on the east side on the week of November 25, 2013.
Residents on the west side should have all of their leaves raked to the curb by Monday, November 18, 2013.
The east side includes the east city limits at Park Lake to Abbot Road. The west side includes the west city limits at Coolidge and West roads to Abbot Road. Loose yard waste (excluding brush/limbs) can be raked to the curb for free collection.
All residents are encouraged to take advantage of the warmer temperatures forecasted for later this week and rake their leaves to the curb as early as possible. Any snow events which occur before the end of the bulk leaf collection program will greatly hamper the city’s ability to continue the program.
