Late Everett Athletic Director Honored

The high school athletic director who died in a snowmobile accident earlier this year is being honored.

Cindy Short of Everett High School is getting the first-ever Building Leaders award from the Michigan Educational Association for going above and beyond to help students and athletes.

Coach Desmond Ferguson accepted the award on her behalf and plans to put it on display at Everett.

"She always put the kids first," the basketball coach said.

Short served as Everett's athletic director since the mid-1990s.

She was 49 years old when she died in a snowmobile accident in Ogemaw County Feb. 17. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
