LANSING -- Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero will announce on Monday plans for a casino next to the Lansing Center, according to MLive.com.
The proposal comes as part of a land swap with the Sault Saint Marie tribe of Chippewa indians, who own a number of Kewadin casinos in the Upper Peninsula.
The Detroit Free Press is reporting, however, the Saginaw Chippewa tribe -- which owns the Soaring Eagle casino in Mount Pleasant -- is suing.
It claims the land in Lansing is not considered tribal and a casino cannot legally be built there.
