Lansing Updates Snow and Clearing Efforts

By  |

The City of Lansing is offering an update on its efforts to remove snow on roads and sidewalks.
Here is the message in whole:
Total snowfall across the city ranged from 3 to 5 inches.
Windy conditions are expected to persist throughout the day and may cause blowing snow that reduces visibility as well as drifting.
Motorists are advised to slow down and exercise extreme caution as streets remain slippery throughout the city.
Salting and underblading of major streets and state trunklines commenced at 11 p.m. yesterday and continued through the night.
Major street plowing operations commenced at 6:30 a.m. and will continue throughout the day.
City-owned parking decks and community center lots have been cleared, and sidewalk clearing operations are underway.
Plowing of local neighborhood streets will commence later today after major streets have been completed.
Residents and businesses are reminded that city ordinance requires sidewalks to be cleared within 24 hours of a storm event. '
When clearing sidewalks and driveways, please do not push snow into the streets.
Residents are asked to avoid parking on city streets day and night over the next 48 hours to facilitate plowing operations.
Residents are also reminded that all vehicles must be removed from city streets between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.
Cars that remain parked on the streets overnight can interfere with plowing operations and may be towed at the owner's expense.
