One day later, Mary Avenue in Lansing is as quiet as ever. A stark contrast from Saturday night.
Police tell News 10 they were called to the 1200 block of Mary Ave. around 9 p.m., after a 53-year-old woman stabbed her neighbor, a 49-year-old man, during an argument.
According to neighbors, the incident happened at Cavanaugh West Apartments on Mary Ave. Calvin Lee lives in Cavanaugh West Apartments and says he saw around ten to 15 police cars in the parking lot, Saturday night.
"They were everywhere and a fire truck and an ambulance," said Lee. "I went to my nephew's house and came back...they were still here."
Police say the man was stabbed once in the stomach. He was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive.
Horace Hall says he lives above the suspect and the victim and that he heard an argument start up around 5 p.m.
"I heard them down there cursing and I heard the door keep slamming," said Hall. "I heard some pushing and shoving."
Police don't know what caused the argument, but they do say alcohol was a factor. Hall says he has heard plenty of arguments in the past.
"Normally, these people argue all the time," said Hall. "I heard them night and day. They fuss and fight all the time."
No names have been released, but police say they have the woman in custody. Neighbors say they are surprised about what happened.
"I heard they argued last week and the week before last," said Lee. "I didn't think it would escalate to this."
