Airport personnel at Capital Region International Airport were busy all day getting ready for a hero's welcome.
"Jordyn coming in is very exciting for all of us," said Nicole Noll-Williams, an airport spokesperson.
The hero is, of course, Jordyn Wieber, and she's been gone for over a month. Now she's bringing back her gold medal from London after traveling to New York City for appearances on the Today Show and David Letterman.
"Anticipate a long crowd coming and long crowd leaving," Noll-Williams said.
The airport asked people to arrive no later than 8:00 p.m., about an hour before Wieber's flight was scheduled to land.
The airport hung banners and set up a podium so Jordyn could address the hundreds of hometown fans they ancticiapted.
"We're excited about the crowds coming in, and it's a pretty standard process for us to help with these types of events," Noll-Williams said.
"Welcome Back" messages were also posted on the monitors.
