LPD Captain Mike Yankowski Named Interim Chief

A 19 year veteran of the Lansing Police Department has been named the department's interim chief.

Mike Yankowski has most recently been a Captain, responsible for the uniform division of the department.

He joined the department in 1994. Between 2001 and 2010, he made his way through the ranks of Sergeant Lieutenant and Captain. He oversaw the consolidation of the North and South Precincts.

He will be replace current Chief Teresa Szymanski who is retiring Saturday.

Yankowski will serve as interim Chief until a permanent replacement is selected.
