A Lansing man convicted of 1st degree murder for the death of his infant daughter will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

On Wednesday, Ingham County Judge William Collette handed the sentence down to 38 year-old John Sanders. Sanders was alone with his 3 month-old daughter Ja'Nayjah the morning of January 4, 2013, when she suffered violent head injuries and stopped breathing. Sanders never gave an explanation of how the child was injured.

The Judge also sentenced Sanders to 50-100 years for 1st degree child abuse.
