MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) -- A Detroit-area judge has twice reversed a decision by the state's parole board to release a convicted sex offender.

Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said in a release Friday that Circuit Judge Diane Druzinski agreed with him to stop Timothy Grier's release from prison. He was convicted in 2001 of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a girl for two years beginning when she was 13.

Grier had served his minimum sentence when the board decided to parole him in 2011, but Druzinski reversed it after concluding he hadn't taken responsibility for his crimes.

The Michigan Court of Appeals upheld the reversal and the state Supreme Court declined the case. Druzinksi halted Grier's release again after the parole board granted parole a second time in November.
