GRAND RAPIDS -- The recent loss of a classmate spurred West Michigan middle school students to do some good.
The death of Forest Hills Central Middle School student Quiniece Henry prompted a donation drive that netted 151 pairs of jeans.
The clothing will be donated to the homeless in honor of the 13-year-old, who died last month from Burkitt lymphoma, a fast growing non-Hodgkins cancer. Quiniece was diagnosed with it just one week earlier.
The Girl Scout troop at the school teamed up with the student council to organize a Jeans for Teens drive. Jeans collected at the school were taken to an Aeropostale store on Friday.
They'll be donated to various Grand Rapids-area homeless shelters.
The Grand Rapids Press says the 151 pairs of jeans were collected in three days.
