Jackson Sheriff Deputies Respond to Several Morning Accidents

Jackson County Sheriff Steve Rand reports that unexpected icy conditions this morning made for a crash filled commute for motorists throughout the county this morning.

Jackson County Central Dispatch received 21 reports or various types of crashes, non injury, injury and slide offs county wide. Most of these occurred between the 6am-8:30am hours of the commute.

Deputies responded to 15 of the crashes throughout Jackson County. Hanover, Liberty, Concord, Summit and Springport Townships saw several crashes and assists to motorists.

As of 8:30am several injury crashes were reported, none are believed to have been life threatening at this time. Township Fire Departments and Jackson Community Ambulance (JCA) Paramedics responded to and assisted in all of the injury crashes.

The Sheriff's office tells News 10 a lot of the accidents occurred on secondary roads. Highways and city streets were fine.

Ingham County dispatch tells us officers responded to at least a couple dozen accidents this morning as well, mainly slide-offs. No major roads had to be closed.
