JACKSON - A Dearborn man will spend the rest of his life in prison for a murder in rural Jackson County. Michael Hamilton was sentenced to life in prison without parole Wednesday for the murder of Robert Marcyan.

The murder took place September 8, 2012, at a home in Norvell Township owned by Hamilton's father. Robert Macyan and his brother Richard came to the home looking to do some deck work. Hamilton shot Robert and fired at Richard, then fled in Marcyan's car. Hamilton crashed the car, and stole another one, leading police on a high-speed chase before he was captured.

The prosecutor said this was a crime of opportunity, that Hamilton was a drug addict who wanted money.

A jury convicted Hamilton in October, after deliberating for about two hours.
