Jackson, Mich. (WILX) The Jackson County Fair kicked off Sunday morning, giving folks a little preview of what to expect during the week-long event.
The rides weren't open yet, but people were allowed to check out the South-Central Wood Carvers.
Last year more than 220,000 people came through the gates.
The fair manager says it's the cleanliness and history of event that sets Jackson apart from other fairs -- especially the big names that show up to perform.
"We have a very long rich history we are very proud of the fact that anybody who is anybody especially in the country music from since 1960, some of the biggest names -- I mean you name it, they have been on the Jackson County Fair Stage," said Denise Owens, the fair manager.
Country music group Alabama will perform on night one. Click here for a full lineup of performers.
