Investigators Find Plane's Black Box Unreadable

French investigators said the black box that recorded conversations between the pilots of the Air Algerie plane that crashed in Mali with 116 people on board was unreadable.

Officials said the aircraft had lost speed and height before the final plunge.

The plane went down on July 24th, south of the Malian town of Gossi.

French officials have said they believe bad weather was an important factor in the crash, but have not yet ruled out other explanations for the crash, including error or deliberate actions.
