An inmate had to get stitches after trying to escape from a prison in Ionia County Wednesday morning. The Department of Corrections tells 20-year-old Marc Leverette, who's serving time for murder, tried breaking out of the Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility. He climbed the interior fence, which triggered a motion detector. An officer patrolling nearby spotted him and restrained him. He has since been transferred back to the Woodland Center, a place for prisoners with mental health problems, where he was just the day before.
