Ice Walls Wash Ashore in Northern Lower Peninsula

By  |

Quite a site along the Keweenaw Peninsula on Lake Superior.

Walls of ice recently washed ashore, smashing against houses in the community of Big Traverse Bay.

A sustained northwest wind helped bring all the floating ice ashore and drive it up on the bank.

This can happen in smaller lakes, too.
