HOWELL - The suspect in the I-96 corridor shooting spree has been named and charged. Wednesday afternoon Raulie Casteel, 43, was arraigned by district court in Livingston County on 6 felony charges. He is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and three counts of felony firearm. The charges stem from an October 18th shooting incident in the Howell Township.

Casteel was not in the courtroom, but appeared via video camera from the Oakland County Jail in Pontiac. A Judge refused to allow news cameras into the courtroom.

Casteel was arrested Monday night at his home in Wixom. Members of a multi-county task force say he is the suspect in the 24 shooting incidents that took place between October 16-27 in Ingham, Livingston, Oakland and Shiawasee counties. The last shooting incidents took place along I-96 in Livingston County on Saturday, October 27th. One driver was actually wounded in a shooting that day. Casteel has only been charged with the October 18th shooting incident at this point.

Casteel is a 1987 graduate of St. Johns High School in Clinton County. He also attended Michigan State University where he studied geo-sciences. He had been living in Kentucky, but returned to Michigan last year.
