A Holt High School student was killed in an accident in Delhi Twp. Tuesday.

The car Christopher Miranda-Olivia was riding in slammed into a tree to avoid hitting a deer, according to the Ingham Co. Sheriff's Office. The driver, Dallas Leal of Lansing, and other passenger, Alfred White, were seriously injured.

The accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday. The three teenage boys were traveling west on Harper Rd. between Eifert and Onondaga roads.

Leal and White, both 18 years old, were in the front seat and wearing seat belts. Seventeen-year-old Miranda-Olivia was in the back seat and, investigators say, did not have his seat belt on. He was ejected from the vehicle.

Investigators tell News 10 Leal swerved to avoid hitting a deer, lost control of the car, slid sideways off the road, and hit an embankment before going airborne. The roof of the car slammed into a tree.

Miranda-Olivia was pronounced dead at the scene. Leal and White are hospitalized with serious injuries.

White and Miranda-Olivia were on the Holt High School football team.

Investigators tell us neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the accident.
