The Michigan Historical Museum plans to screen a series of Disney animated short films produced in the 1940s to encourage Americans to support the nation's efforts in World War II.
Saturday's event is at the museum located in the Michigan Library and Historical Center in Lansing. The screening starts at 1 p.m. and Jason Sperb of the Michigan State University Film Studies Program will discuss the history behind the films.
As the war escalated, The Walt Disney Co. made films as a contribution to the nation's war effort. One portrays the Seven Dwarfs touting the benefits of buying war bonds. Another one features Donald Duck encouraging Americans to pay income taxes.
The event is free with regular museum admission.
