Workers are trying to dismantle the former Consumers building in downtown Jackson without causing it to collapse on an adjacent church and other nearby businesses..
A large piece of the building fell today as crews attempted to bring the entire skeleton down. According the demolition crew, the remaining structure is unsound and could fall at any time.
The demotion crew failed to pull the unsteady portion of the structure down with a crane and then tried to knock it down with a wrecking ball.
A News 10 crew is on the scene and we'll have updates as they happen.
