Williamston's Hannah Miller is home, after placing 9th overall in the U.S. National Figure Skating Championships.
It's a notch up from where the 17 year-old placed in the same competition last year, but not enough to grab a spot on this year's U.S. Olympic team.
Miller says she'll learn from her mistakes, and come back fighting. She's due back on her home ice Wednesday, to begin that fight for a spot on the 2018 Olympic team.
The honor student returned from Boston with a U.S. Figure Skating Association Honors Scholarship for her achievements in the classroom. She plans to donate some of the money to Ingham County Animal Control.
Miller performed her short program Thursday night to the music of “The Firebird” by Igor Stavinsky. She earned 57.49 points. Her free skate was to “Primavera” by Ludovico Einaudi. She finished with 161.41.
