Jackson Gunfire Leads to Woman Being Struck By Car

A Jackson woman is in the University of Michigan Hospital with several serious broken bones.

Jackson Police Lt. Elmer Hitt says she was struck by a car driven by another woman who was trying to get away after gunfire occurred. It happened Monday evening in the 900 Block of South Milwaukee Street in Jackson.

Lt. Hitt says an altercation between two men led to one pulling a gun and firing shots at the other. The bullets hit an unoccupied car.

However, the victim was walking in the area and ducked behind a parked car when the gunshots began. A woman sitting in the car, put it in reverse and ran over the victim.

The two men are known to police, but no arrests have been made.

Investigators say itheir reports will all be turned over to the Jackson County Prosecutor to sort out charges.
