Lansing, MI - A local group is at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Lansing working to restore headstones, after the wear and tear from a harsh winter and past vandalism.
This restoration process is just the beginning. Thirteen of the cemetery's largest and most historic monuments have been taken apart so new cement foundations can be created.
The Friends of Lansing's Historic Cemeteries hired Mt. Hope Monument Company to restore the markers.
The FOLHC used the funds they raised from the first ever "Race to Restore" 5K to hire Mt. Hope Monument Company to restore the downed markers and monuments this morning.
Their initial round of restoration start this morning, but they are hoping to do even more rehab here at the cemetery.
Tune in to News 10 tonight for the complete before and after look at this historic rehab.
